“When they came to Jesus, they saw the man who had been possessed by the legion of demons, sitting there, dressed and in his right mind; and they were afraid”.
Mk 5:15 NIV

Some friends found the testimony of a newly-converted Christian believer “a tall story”. One of them said, “You don’t really believe that Jesus turned water into wine do you?” He replied, “I don’t know, but I do know that in our house he turned beer into bread”.
There are few more beautiful word-pictures in the New Testament than this one. A man who was a total lunatic, a complete aberration, a sub-human being is totally changed. He has met Jesus. Jesus has spoken to him and banished his disorder to the bottom of the nearby lake. Now he is sitting, clothed, and in his right mind. He sits down – instead of roaming and roaring around with the pigs, a picture of calmness and perfect self-control. He is clothed now instead of the torn rags and semi-nudity he had lived in whilst in his deranged condition. Now he is ready to resume a life of human dignity and is able to relate to other people. Now he is in his right mind, thinking clearly, understanding rationally, and able to make sense with any who would talk with him. And he is with Jesus, the one who brought order out of chaos at creation, and who stilled the natural storm. Now he has stilled the human storm.
Whatever state of mind you are in, let Jesus bring you to complete self-control and cleanse your mind of whatever evil influences this modern world has contaminated it. Let him restore you to calm competence, dignity and full humanity.

Lord, thank you for the beauty and order you have brought to me.
